NORFOLK Funeral services for 82 year old Harold P. Tuffy Goodnow, of the Highland Nursing Home in Massena and formerly of 21 Morris Street, Norfolk, will be held Saturday at 11 am at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Andrew Amyot, pastor, presiding. Burial will be held in the Visitation cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk. Mr. Goodnow passed away Wednesday afternoon at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by a son Fred Goodnow of Apopka, FL and two daughters, Mrs. Donald Carolyn Purvis, Norfolk and Mrs. Leo Marilyn Palmer, Norfolk . He has six grandchildren, Angela Regan, Jessica and Jason Purvis, Matthew Goodnow, and Aleah and Brandon Palmer and his one great-grandson Lucas Regan. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Lloyd, Edward and Francis and his sister Audrey Cutler.
Born in Norfolk on April 24, 1926 to Frederick and Mary Tiernan Goodnow, he married Wiletta G. Hotaling on September 23, 1950. She passed away on November 28, 2007. He worked as a parts manager for John Chevrolet and Frenchies Chevrolet in Massena for many years. After his retirement, he worked for the Greenthumb Program at SUNY Potsdam. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1944-1946. He was a member of the Church of the Visitation, Norfolk, the Norfolk American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, Norfolk, the Norfolk Fire Department and Rescue Squad and past member of the Holy Name Society at the Church of the Visitation. He enjoyed ice fishing and playing ball and spending time with his family was important to him.
