NORWOODFuneral services for 72 year old Stanley J. Cork Farmer, 464 Austin Ridge Road, Norwood, will be held Tuesday, May 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Andrews Church in Norwood with Rev. Andrew Amyot presiding. A luncheon will follow at the Norwood American Legion. Mr. Farmer passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Cork is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sheila, Norwood; two sons, Travis R. Farmer, Norwood and Eric S. and Jessica Farmer, Jamesville, NY. Cork is also survived by his brothers Ernest, Keith, Russell and Katherine Farmer, all of Norwood and Robert and Susie, Alabama; his two sisters, Lois and Robert Taylor, Hannawa Falls and Sharon and Bernard Bump Jarvis, Norwood and several nieces, nephews, cousins, beloved friends and acquaintances.
Born in Potsdam on September 27, 1942 to the late Russell and Lena Nichols Farmer, Stanley worked as a Freight Engineer for CSX railroad for 35 years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of St. Andrews Church in Norwood, the Norwood American Legion, the Stag Hunting Club and the NRA. Cork loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, camping and 4-wheeling. He served in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1961 to 1964. Memorial Donations in his memory can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.
