Obituary of Francis E. Hatch

SOUTH COLTON—Funeral services with military honors for 80 year old Francis E. Hatch, 4084 State Highway 56, South Colton, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Colton with Rev. Msgr. Robert Aucoin presiding. Burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Colton. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mr. Hatch passed away late Monday evening at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Francis is survived by his wife of 58 years, Constance “Connie”, South Colton; a son, Timothy F. Hatch, South Colton; his daughter, Sally and Jerry Manor, Louisville. Francis is also survived by his four grandchildren, Katie Hatch Sjuve, Emily Manor Robideau, Meaghan Manor Janovsky, Jennie Hatch and his four great-grandchildren, Kameron Sjuve and Kyle, Carter and Mia Robideau. Francis is also survived by several nieces and nephews and several brother and sister in-laws. Francis was pre-deceased by his parents and his brother, Robert Hatch. Born in Ogdensburg on July 23, 1931 to the late Edward J. and Julia A. Robert Hatch, Francis attended and graduated from Potsdam High School in 1950. He married Constance Ford on August 15, 1953 at St. Paul’s Church in South Colton. He worked for N.Y. Telephone for 30 years as an installer and repairman, retiring in 1984. He later operated Hatch Telephone Service for 10 years and was an inventory specialist for the John Deere Corporation for 8 years. Francis was a member of the Colton Town Planning Board, the Colton Fire Department for 55 years, the Sampson Pond Hunting Club, the Potsdam Elks Club, Communication workers of America and was a life member of the N.Y. Telephone Pioneers. Francis loved the outdoors, as he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his pony “Renegade” and enjoyed traveling, his painting classes with his daughter Sally and spending time with his family. Francis served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict.
