MADRID -- Richard Allen 'Dick' Osoway 73, of Madrid, passed away suddenly on Monday morning, August 26, 2024. He was born on November 24, 1950, on the family farm in Madrid, New York, the son of the late Audrey (Clark) and Michael Osoway. Dick took great pride in being a hard-working, self-employed dairy farmer at Osoway Farms, which he owned and operated successfully for more than half his life alongside Moe, his right-hand man, who started as a teenager, never took a day off, and remained a loyal worker and friend to Dick. Dick is survived by his loving daughter Kathy (Osoway) and Kerry Foster, his beloved grandchildren, and their families, Kerry Foster Jr., his son Gaige and his daughters Bailey and Morgan, Britney Trombly and her son Carson, Kourtney (Foster) and husband Brian Drentwett and their children Leaha and Chase, Kylie Foster and her son Bellamy, Brooke Trombly, and Dylan Trombly. Dick is also survived by his stepdaughters Nichole (LeBeau) Bradley and Melissa (LeBeau) Givens and their families. He was survived by several siblings, including his sisters Helen Pellett, Mildred White, and Patsy Baxter, and his brothers Larry, Tim, and Ken Osoway. He was also survived by the Martins, his chosen family, highly cherished and appreciated, David, Joan, Mike, Brian, Cliff, Davida, and Elda. The Martins took care of him and his children through some difficult times and he had the utmost respect and love for the whole family. He is also survived amongst many other family members, friends, and loved ones. Dick was predeceased by his parents Audrey (Clark) and Michael Osoway, his first wife Lynn (McQuade) Osoway, his daughter Priscilla Osoway-Trombly, his second wife Karen (Barney) Osoway, his brothers Michael Osoway Jr., Joseph Osoway, and William Osoway. Everyone who knew Dick understood that his passion in life was farming and taking care of his girls (his cows). Even more than his girls, he loved his family, and sharing the farm with them. It brought him so much joy to show the great-grandchildren around the barn and teach them about milking and the cows. In addition, Dick enjoyed going out to eat with his family and friends, going to auctions, and collecting a variety of things he was sure he would need for a later project. In his journey as a farmer, Dick encountered many different people from all walks of life and made many positive and lasting impressions on those who knew him. Dick always wore his Dickies, a smile on his face, and had a joke up his sleeve, with the ability to make everyone around him laugh. Dick will forever be remembered for his devotion and hardworking nature and endless jokes and clever comebacks. He will be missed greatly.
