SOUTH COLTON -- Marilyn Robinson Woolston, resident of South Colton, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024, at the age of 79. Mrs. Woolston is survived by her two daughters, Brooke and Mike Croft, Waverly, NY, and Joelle and Jackson Fisher, Baltimore, MD; her five beloved and treasured grandchildren, Davis, Ashlen, Drew, Blake, and Alexis. Marilyn is also survived by her three brothers, Harry and MaryAnn Robinson, Southbury, CT; Robert and Liza Robinson, McKinney, TX; and Thomas Robinson, Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, NY and her sister, Catherine "Kitty" and Paul Ibert, Chittenango, NY. Marilyn was pre-deceased by her parents and her late husband, Edward, on September 20, 2021.
Born in Great Barrington, MA on May 5, 1945 to the late Robert W. and Sarah O'Hara Robinson, Marilyn graduated from Roeliff Jansen High School and from SUNY Potsdam with a degree in education. During her studies, she student taught at the Colton-Pierrepont Central School, where she met Edward Woolston. They were married on June 17, 1967, at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Copake Falls, NY. Marilyn then joined Ed at Colton-Pierrepont. Ed and Marilyn taught Title I Migrant Education in Brant, NY during the 1967 and 1968 summer seasons. Marilyn retired from teaching after 33 years, from the Colton-Pierrepont Central School District as a kindergarten teacher.
Ed and Marilyn made the most of their retirement years. They enjoyed their summers at their camp on Rainbow Falls and their winters in Florida. The time in between was spent with their grandchildren and families. In her free time, Marilyn enjoyed reading and walking, but found her most enjoyment came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Marilyn will always be remembered for her sunny disposition, thoughtfulness, and kindness. She made the lives of everyone who knew her so much brighter and she will be missed.
