POTSDAM – Graveside services for Douglas A. Mattice, 71 a resident of 650 County Rt. 56, Potsdam, will be held in the springtime in the Riverside Cemetery in Norwood with a Celebration of Life gathering to follow. Mr. Mattice passed away Monday, December 11, 2023 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Doug is survived by a son, James Mattice, Tacoma, Washington; two daughters, Kenda Mattice, Canton and Rebecca and Eric Scovil, Potsdam and several grand and great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Doug was pre-deceased by his parents; three brothers, George, David and Roger Mattice and his beloved wolfdog, Sheena.
Born in Potsdam, NY on September 26, 1952 to the late Vernon A. and Martha Babbitt Mattice, Doug graduated from Madrid-Waddington Central School and worked in the construction industry his entire life. He has worked for numerous companies doing many jobs, each one unique in its own way. Most recently, Doug worked for Burns Construction in Lisbon and Dow Electric in Malone. Doug enjoyed working with his hands building things and was always keeping busy working on something. He also enjoyed watching westerns on t.v. and enjoyed animals.
