Obituary of Freda M. Michaud

DEKALB JUNCTION – A Mass of Christian Burial for Freda M. Michaud, 76, a resident of School Street, Dekalb Junction and formerly of Norwood, will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew's Church in Norwood with Rev. Andrew Amyot presiding. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Norwood following the services. Mrs. Michaud passed away early Wednesday morning, October 18, 2023 at her home. Freda is survived by her three children, Scott, Marci and Deanna (DeKalb Junction); her beloved grandchildren, a great grandson and a sister, Frances Ashley, Tonawanda. Freda was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband Dan, a brother Verner J. Mariea and two sisters, Sirona Stowe and Bernetta Mariea. Born in Potsdam, NY on June 16, 1947 to the late Verner F. and Marguerite Gilbo Mariea, Freda graduated from Potsdam Central School and SUNY Canton. She married Daniel T. Michaud on November 11, 1967. Daniel later passed away in 2003. Freda worked as a Lab Technician for 44 years, working for the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, the Clinic in Hogansburg and most recently, SUNY Potsdam where she retired in 2008. In her spare time, Freda enjoyed reading, taking walks, crocheting and spending time with her only great grandson. She was devoted to her church and community. She taught Catechism and First Communion Classes, Freda completed formation for ministry, volunteered at the nursing home and was active in the Gabriel.
