Thoughts and prayers to the Schofell family on Ron's passing. I have known Ron since we were young kids on the bus and neighbors around the corner. I was proud to count Ron as a friend. We had many conversations over the years and I enjoyed his critique of the diners he visited. He will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in Peace my friend.

To the Schoffell family.
My children (Jesse, Tarryn and Wade) and dog Woody were neighbors of Ron on Sissionville Rd.
As soon as we moved in we all became great friends.
The apple pies, the borrowing of VHS tapes, the endless, “can I go see what Ron Scruffles is doing?” To this day my kids referred to him as Ron Scruffles
A few highlights: Woody found his way under Ron’s shed trying to “make friends” with its resident groundhog.. After hours of searching for our missing dog we realized he was under the shed but couldn’t make his way out. I quietly knocked on Rons door to give him the news. Out he came in his suspenders to get on his tractor with the wagon. Ron had to jack up the shed to get our dog out safely. I’m sure if it had been a person he or she may have been left to figure it out! Since it was our dog, he never “grumbled” once.
During the ice storm of 1998 my kids and I took refuge at Ron’s! He made sure the kids were fed and warm. We spent hours playing checkers and other board games. He graciously opened his home and provided a level of comfort and safety that I will never ever forget!
In 1999 after the death of my son, it was Ron who provided my children and I with amazing comfort. He showed love through food. He made sure I ate, he let me talk, while he listened. He let me cry, and although I don’t remember the exact words, I do remember the comfort that they provided.
Rest in Peace Ron Scruffles… the world is a bit darker today.
All our love,
Lainey Scott and Tarryn and Wade Megan
