Q: How did you meet Lois?
A: I never met Lois in person but instead by phone. Talking with her was like talking with a friend or family member. She was a warm and witty person I could tell just speaking with her. She was full of life and forthright. I will miss her but am comforted by the thought that her spirit and kindness thrive in her wonderful surviving family.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of Lois. I have admired Lois ever since I met her 47 years ago. She was energetic, intelligent, assertive, witty, and reliable. As a woman of her time in the 1950s, she was a faithful wife raising a large family in small-town America. One must acknowledge if she were coming of age in the new millennium, she may have been a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, given her vision and drive. Nonetheless, I cherish her cabbage roll recipe, which I enjoyed one Labor Day weekend. Fondly, Isabelle DeRoy

What a wonderful person. She always treated me like a long friend even though we didn't meet until later in life. She will be greatly missed.

I was fortunate to meet Lois at the Norfolk American Legion several years ago. She immediately reminded me of my Mother and I immediately loved her feisty personality and sense of humor, plus I admired her hard work!! She kept the Legion spotless and tended bar on Sunday’s! She will be missed by so many. My deepest sympathy to her family and friend’s. I know she’s in a better place and watching over you all! Sincerely , Candy Hunt
