Andy sat behind me in Mr. Jackson's homeroom. One day he tugged on my hair, passed me a book and asked me to read John Irving's 'Hotel New Hampshire". I did and loved it. I was rather shy and he had never spoken to me before so I was pleased that he actually "saw me". I only just read of his passing and that he had written a book published posthumously. I am sorry he struggled. He touched my life very briefly but I never forgot him.

I met Andy in January 2018 when Mike Varley referred me to him to do an appraisal. He was so helpful that when I saw the obit I mentioned it to my wife and remembered how he impacted us at a critical time. My Brother had passed away leaving me as Executor to take care of things including his rural home that was in need of upgrades to make it saleable. Andy came to the property on a frigid January morning and did his work without complaint. Then he gave me great advice to spend wisely and upgrade the property and it successfully closed the following July with a good return on the spend. He went above and beyond with expertise and kindness at a time when we really needed it. I was so sorry to hear of his passing.

I was so saddened to hear of Andy’s passing. My deepest prayers and sympathies to his family and friends. I met Andy years ago through my brother James, and we became friends as our paths crossed at SUNY - Oswego and in Southern CA. He was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met and he had a heart of gold. He will never be forgotten.

I had the true pleasure of having Andy appraise multiple properties for me - and him telling me once - "It was a pig in a poke" -- at the time I didn't know what that meant so he kindly explained that he wouldn't recommend buying that house. He wasn't supposed to do that in his job -- but he knew I was a single mother and kinda clueless. I appreciated that kindness and do this day. I bought a different house and he appraised a few others in my life - the most recent just last year. I will miss him. I always enjoyed chatting through an appraisal.... good kind man.

I remember Andy as a young fellow absorbing hunting and fishing knowledge from my beloved brother-in-law and his step-father, Gary Hurley.
I haven't seen him in many years, but remember his cheerful nature.
Guess he and Gary will now be together and fly fishing once again after the "big one".
My condolences to Amy and Mike and families for the loss.

When I first got my Assistant Appraiser license back in 2007 Andy was the only appraiser who would meet with me. He talked with me at a lunch meeting. I have always appreciated the fact that he took time to do this when everyone else I talked to didn't. He also called my office when I was working as Assessor for the Town of Potsdam and I had done revaluation in 2013. It was about 9:30 at night and I was still working in the office and the phone rang. I thought it was one of my kids because who else would be calling me this late? It was Andy letting me know that he thought I did a good job with the revaluation. That also was appreciated. Especially from someone in the valuation field that knows there is a lot that goes into it. My prayers and thoughts go out to Andy's family and friends. God Bless....

I want to share the memory of the last time I saw Andy in person which was July of 2015 at our 30 year high school reunion (but a year late). We met in Norwood with some other people. We talked about a lot of things. Our current lives, our past lives, and how we got to where we were. He said to me “I am so proud you. You have done amazing”. That really touched my heart and made me smile. We also talked about the life struggles we had and offered each other encouragement. It was a wonderful face to face conversation and I will always cherish it. And we danced our butts off. There was a band and we tore up the dance floor! Such a fun night. Such a fun person. I selfishly miss him. I know he’s with God, but I will miss him not being there when I want to reach out across the electrons. He always had a perspective that made things better. Rest In Peace dear friend. Until we meet again...

Amy and Mike:
Bob will try to attend Monday night but unfortunately I will be out of town for work or I would be there. Andy was a genuine person. Loved talking to him at their class reunion 4 years ago. Saw him at Potsdam IGA not that long ago and called him Mike. Apologized profusely for my mistake and he said “That’s ok it happens sometimes.” My thoughts and prayers are with you. Rest In Peace Andy. You were one of the good ones!!

My heart goes out to Mike, Amy and the entire Marsjanik family at this time of loss. Andy was a great guy and will be missed by many. He left a positive memory with everyone he met. I will never forget when he helped a friend and neighbor of mine when she was selling her house. He went above and beyond to help her and she is grateful to this day for Andy’s compassion and commitment for his profession. Soar with the eagles my friend and God Bless!

One of the nicest guys ever, great old friend and teammate. Your smile, laughter, sense of humor will be greatly missed.
My fondest memories of Andy were playing soccer together and spending the summers getting into mischief with our small group of friends.
He also tricked me into drinking some hydrogen peroxide once but I deserved it. The look on his face after watching me drink it was priceless.
You made a difference in my life Andy, thank you and Rest In Peace my old friend.

So many wonderful memories with you. “Let’s play hide the comb,” and then talk about “coffee farts.” Both of us living at grandpa’s at the same time, trying to find our way - he was so kind to both of us. Going to miss you terribly, and the memories that still would’ve been made. RIP Andy, love you. ❤️
