NORWOOD—A Mass of Christian burial for 84 year old Hugh P. Miller, a resident of 399 Porter-Lynch Road, Norwood, will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew's Church in Norwood with the most Reverend Bishop Terry LaValley presiding and Msgr. John Murphy concelebrating. Burial will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Norwood following the services. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Monday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Mr. Miller passed away Wednesday evening, October 31, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
Hugh is survived by his wife of 62 years, Norma, Norwood; two sons, Randy J. Miller and his companion Rhonda DeBruhl, Davie, FL; Rick and Ginger Miller, Lawrenceville; a daughter, Nancy and Kevin Branscum, Watkins Glen, NY; his seven beloved grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Thelma Gadway, Mooers Forks; Vilma and Harvey Pearson, Norfolk and Zenith Dallas, Norfolk as well as several nieces and nephews. Hugh was pre-deceased by his parents, a grandson Joey Bregg, his two brothers Bruce and Garfield Miller and a sister Anita Ingraham.
Born in Ellenburg, NY on August 26, 1934 to the late Paul and Ruth Peets Miller, Hugh graduated from high school and entered the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge, Hugh married Norma M. Gadway on October 27, 1956 at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks, NY. Hugh worked at ALCOA in Massena as a truck service repairman, retiring in 1993 after over 41 years of service. As well as working at ALCOA, Hugh was just as busy working at home with his family on the farm, in which he was very proud of. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and especially tending to his gardens. Hugh enjoyed going to camp in South Colton and spending winters as snow birds in Florida with his wife.
