NORWOOD—Funeral Services with Fire Department Honors for 64 year old Harold L. "Monk" Loomis, a resident of 9 Ashley Street, Norwood, will be held Monday, September 17, 2018 at 4 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral. Burial will be held in the Riverside Cemetery in Norwood at a later date. Mr. Loomis passed away early Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena.
Monk is survived by his wife of 41 years, Madonna, Norwood; a son, Harold Jr. and his companion Rachel Hamm, Norwood; his three beloved grandchildren, Sapphire, Raylee and Raylin Loomis; his four brothers, Roy and Diane Garrow, Norwood; Jeff and Marie Garrow, Waterloo, Lynn Garrow, Waterloo, Randy and Leanne Garrow, Hammond; a sister, Marsha and Paul Trimm, Hermon; several nieces and nephews and his in-laws, Scotty Trombley, Debbie and Earl McBride, Monica and Tom Herne and Mickey and Michael Lebo. Monk was pre-deceased by his parents, a son Jordan Michael, a daughter Tameka Lynn and a brother, Robin Garrow.
Born in Potsdam, NY on March 5, 1954 to the late Maynard and Ruth Loomis Garrow, Monk was raised by his grandparents, Leon and Ethel Loomis. He attended Norwood-Norfolk School and started working for the Village of Norwood DPW. He was a dedicated worker for the Village as well as the Norwood Fire Department all his life until his retirement in 2010. He loved hunting, watching NASCAR and siting on his front porch visiting with friends and family.
