NORWOOD – Graveside services for 81 year old Richard J. "Dick" Boprey, a resident of 35 Park Street, Norwood will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 9 a.m. in the Riverside Cemetery, Norwood with Elder Ken Ashley presiding. Richard passed away Wednesday at his home surrounded by family. Dick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marlene Boprey, Norwood; two sons, Richard and Deborah Boprey, Indian Harbor Beach, Florida and Scott Boprey, Massena and his two grandchildren, Remy and Luc Boprey. He is also survived by a brother, Michael and Rose Boprey, Norwood; two sisters, Bonnie Barnes, Liverpool and Loretta Cornell, Gouverneur as well as his nieces and nephews. Richard is pre-deceased by his parents, his brother Robert Boprey, and his sister Jackie Spencer.
Richard was born in Gouverneur, NY on January 8, 1937 to the late Edwin and Rethea Hall Boprey and married Marlene M. Scott on May 11, 1958. After graduating from high school, Richard worked as a long time local meat cutter at the Great American, Chicago Markets, Loblaw's in Massena, and Perry's Big M in Norwood. Dick was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Norwood Village Trustee for over 30 years, a former mayor of Norwood and a Trustee for the Norwood Museum. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch in his spare time. Memorial Donations in Richard's memory can be made to any local Animal Shelter or SPCA or to a local Cancer Center.
