COLTON—Funeral Services for 80 year old Anita L. Sampier, a resident of 9 Hull Street, Colton, will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 12 noon at the St. Patrick's Church in Colton with Rev. Stephen Rocker presiding. Burial will follow the services at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Colton. Mrs. Sampier passed away early Tuesday morning, June 19, 2018 at her home.
Anita is survived by her two sons, Anthony and Nancy Sampier, Niantic, CT; Jefferey Sampier, Colton; two daughters, Terry and Kerry Cochran and Jennifer and Ronald Yacketta, both of Colton; her eight grandchildren, Matthew and Christina Sampier; Sarah and Chris Allen; Andrew Cochran; Dominic, Hannah and Aleisa Yacketta; Megan and Bryan Lincoln and Kelly Jo Sampier; her five great-grandchildren and several cousins and nieces and nephews. Anita is survived by a brother, Harold and Lucile Perkins, Massena; her two sister-in-law's, Marjorie Perkins and Shirley Perkins. Anita was pre-deceased by her husband, Rexford L. Sampier, her parents, a daughter, Deborah Sampier, two brothers, Francis and Kenneth Perkins and her two sisters, Margaret Pietrobono and Mary Louise Mousaw.
Born in Pierrepont, NY on September 25, 1937 to the late Hugh and Mary Marden Perkins, Anita graduated from Colton-Pierrepont Central School and later attended St. Lawrence University. Anita married Rexford Sampier on August 30, 1958. Anita worked at the New York Telephony company, RESCO Restaurant Supply of CT, and retired from Clarkson University. She served a term as president to the local Chapter of 9to5, the National Organization of Working Women. Anita was a child advocate and served many years as parent representative to the special education department of Colton-Pierrepont Central School. Anita enjoyed gardening, serving as a cub scout leader, reading and was an immense supporter of the democratic party.
