COLTON—Funeral services for 74 year old Robert D. "Bob" Miller, a resident of 6634 County Rt. 24, Colton, will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 12 noon at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton with Rev. Brooke Newell presiding. Burial will follow the services at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Colton. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Mr. Miller passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the St. Joseph's Home in Ogdensburg.
Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marlyne, Colton; two sons, Richard G. Miller, Carthage; Robert S. and Hallie Miller, Chase Mills; two daughters, Rebecca and Patrick Baker, Colton; Jonnette and Steve Castorino, Colorado; his six grandchildren, Mark, Stephanie, Brooke, Brandy, Sara and Bodhi and one great-grandson, Calloway. Bob is also survived by two sisters, Joan Cary, Potsdam; Shirley Miller, Potsdam, a brother, Larry and Cheryl Miller, Madrid as well as several nieces and nephews. Bob was pre-deceased by his parents, a daughter Lorrie in 1964, his two brothers, Roger and Gilbert Miller and a daughter-in-law Brenda Litten Miller.
Born in Potsdam, NY on October 13, 1943 to the late Richard G. and Elsie Smith Miller, Bob attended Potsdam High School and later entered in the U.S. Navy in 1960. He married Marlyne S. Bullock on December 3, 1962 in South Colton. After serving his country for 22 years, Bob retired as a Master Chief Electrician in 1982. Upon his return home from service, Bob went to work at SUNY Potsdam as an Electrical Supervisor retiring in 2005. After his retirement, Bob found much enjoyment volunteering at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Colton and at the United Methodist Church in Colton doing odds and ends. Bob was very proud of his service in the U.S. Navy and his pride and joy was the restoration of his John Deere tractor.
