NORWOOD—Funeral Services for 87 year old Helen A. Woodward (Kristyak), a resident of the Highland Nursing Home, Massena and formerly of Lake Shore Drive in Norwood for many years, will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 5 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Sonya Boyce presiding. Burial will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Norwood at a later date. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Tuesday May 1, 2018 from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral at 5 p.m. Mrs. Woodward passed away peacefully on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Highland Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Helen is survived by her beloved children, William (Diane) Woodward, Norfolk; Gary (Peggy) Woodward, Norwood; a daughter, Irene (Leon) Ober, Norwood; her eight beloved grandchildren, William, Jennifer, Jason, Gary, Justin, Bobby Jo, Scott and Tina and eleven great-grandchildren. Helen is also survived by her beloved siblings Michael (MaryJo) Kristyak, Mercer, PA; Tom Kristyak, PA, Jo Anne Sasse, PA; Edith (David) Dunwoody, PA, and Barbara Laffler, FL as well as several nieces and nephews. Helen was pre-deceased by her brothers Martin, John, David and her sisters Marjorie, Mary Jane.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio on October 2, 1930 to the late Martin and Helen Panning Kristyak, Helen worked as an Independent Traveling Nurse's Aide in Florida for many years. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church and enjoyed working on crafts and attending craft shows. Helen was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star and loved attending auctions. Helen also like to dance with her family and friends.
