NORFOLK—A Mass of Christian Burial for 68 year old Alan J.W. Woodall, a resident of 297 Old Market Road, Norfolk and a summer resident of Henderson, NY, will be held Friday, February 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will be held in the Visitation Cemetery in Norfolk in the springtime. Mr. Woodall passed away on February 16, 2018 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY.
Alan is survived by his wife of 48 years, Margaret, Norfolk; three sons, Joseph A. and Natalia Woodall, Norfolk; Jason D. and Shelley Woodall, Massena; John E. and Melissa Woodall, PA; his six beloved grandchildren, Nolan, Brody, Autumn, Christian, Anita and Jett; a brother Duane and Susan Woodall, FL and two sisters, Sharee and Lon Coon, Constantia, NY and Joyce and Ray Williams, NC as well as several nieces and nephews. Alan was pre-deceased by his parents and an infant son, Benjamin William Woodall.
Born in Adams, NY on April 3, 1949 to the late Maurice and Mina Josephine Woodall, Alan graduated from Baldwinsville High School and attended the Wanakena Ranger School. He married Margaret E. Davey on April 26, 1969. Alan worked for many years for the NYS Department of Transportation as a civil engineer, retiring in 2008. Previously, Alan worked at ALCOA, as a land surveyor and also at one time, a truck driver. Alan was a past member of the Mason's and loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family at his camp or "cottage" in Henderson, NY. He loved his dog copper and was known for being a kind person who could strike up conversations with anybody. He even wrote small stories for the Watertown Dailey Times at one time.
