Obituary of Michele A. Planty

Funeral service for Michele Hawley Planty, 55, of Colton will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 6:00 pm at the Buck Funeral Home, Riverside Dr., Colton with Pastor Pedro Morales, officiating. Calling hours will also be held on Tuesday, from 3:00 pm until the time of the funeral service. Michele died peacefully, while surrounded by her loving family on August 18, 2017 at CVPH in Plattsburgh.

Michele is survived by her three children, Billy James (Jessica) Planty of Brasher Falls; Matthew Planty and Stacey (Scott) Coleman, all of Colton. She is also survived by her mother, Grace Hawley, brothers, Timothy and Kevin, all of Colton and by eight grandchildren, Teagan, Tanner, MacKenna and Ridge Planty, Lillian and Austin Planty and Emma and Ethan Coleman .

Michele was predeceased by her husband Billy on March 20, 2013; by her father Morris “Buzz” Hawley on June 23, 1999; and by a brother, Morris “Mike” Hawley on November 22, 2009.

Michele was born July 8, 1962 in Potsdam, the daughter of Morris and Grace (Robert) Hawley. She graduated from Colton-Pierrepont Central School and later from SUNY Canton. On January 28, 1983, Michele was married to Billy James Planty of Potsdam. The couple resided in Potsdam and later moved to Colton.

Michele worked for a number of years as a home health care provider and later for Cradles to Crayons Day Care Center of Potsdam, until her illness forced her to take time off.

Michele enjoyed camping, reading and NY Yankees Baseball, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandkids. Michele was loved by all and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and the children she worked with.
