Obituary of Bernice E. Law

COLTON-- Funeral Services for 93 year old Bernice E. Law, a resident of Altamont, NY and formerly of Brentwood, Long Island and Colton, NY will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Colton with Pastor Tom Chappell presiding. Burial will be held in the Riverview Cemetery, Parishville, following the services. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Mrs. Law passed away Wednesday evening at the home of her daughter in Altamont. Bernice is survived by her two daughters, Deborah and Michael Fontes, Altamont; Geraldine and Peter J. Edwards, East Setauket, NY; four beloved grandchildren, Scott (Pia Kim), Peter (Yoon Jung-A), Regina Marie, Lisa Marie, and her three precious great-grandchildren; Mina Yoon, Tristan Jay, and Kieran Young. Bernice is also survived by a brother William Smith and a sister Sadie Vebber, both of Colton. Bernice was pre-deceased by her brothers Kenneth, Durwood, Roswell, Frank, Richard and her sisters Cassie Bartlett and Betty Johnson. Born in Colton on January 30, 1923 to the late Roy and Emily Bicknell Smith, Bernice married Ivan Day Law on May 5, 1945. Ivan passed away on July 8, 1975. Bernice was a self-employed Real Estate Broker, owning and operating ERA Quality Homes in Brentwood, NY. Bernice had also worked at Pilgrim State Hospital for many years, also located in Brentwood. Bernice was passionate about her Real Estate business and was active with the United Presbyterian Church of Brentwood. She also took great pride in her gardening.
