"TUNK"
My name is David Bartlett and I want to tell my thoughts of Vernon (Tunk) Bartlett; a good man that we were all fortunate to know and have in our lives. Typically, over the years, we would see Tunk, mostly on days when he arrived at the farm to partake in some kind of outdoor activity, whether it was hunting, flying model airplanes, clearing paths in the woods, preparing hunting sites in the woods, taking care of the bees, taking care of the birds, or just stopping for a good old fashion talk session. Regardless of the reason, being in the presence of Tunk was always an extreme pleasure and an educational opportunity that you did not want to miss. When Tunk drove up in the yard we would all stand in excitement and clearly announce "Tunk is here". With that announcement, we would all eagerly present ourselves to engage conversation with Tunk. Tunk was not only a great speaker of infinite wisdom, but also an intent listener willing to hear your thoughts and issues. Tunk was certainly an educator; he taught us about the birds and the bees (literally!), about the land, about the trees, about the wildlife, and many other lessons about good citizenship - he taught us well. The passing of Tunk leaves a large void in our lives. To Tunk I say, "Thank you for your sharing and caring that you gave." To those that might receive Tunk from us I say, "Pay attention, you are about to receive the most valuable education you could ever get." We love you, and miss you, Tunk!

So sorry to hear about the loss of Tunk. All of the 'Carter kids' have fond memories of his humor and wit, and always looked forward to spending time with him as he shared with us his love for model airplanes or target shooting whenever we visited Grandpa & Grandma Luther & Isabelle.
