NORFOLK—Graveside services for 89 year old Glenden E. Cutway, a resident of the Highland Nursing Home, Massena, and formerly of Potsdam and Norfolk, will be held Monday, October 24, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Bixby Cemetery in Norfolk with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Mr. Cutway passed away Saturday evening at the Highland Nursing Home. Glenden is survived by a son, Richard and Sally Cutway, Fullerville, NY; a daughter, Diana and Larry Goolden, Canton; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Milton Cutway, Oceanside Village, SC; two sisters, Betty and James Boprey, Canton; Charlene Cutway, Ogdensburg as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Glenden was pre-deceased by his two wife's, Marion and Frances; his companions Marjorie Upell and Ann Sawyer; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Carl, Donald and Louis (Bud) and his sisters Carolyn Bushy, Vanita Gill, Doris Bushy, Beverly Warren and a sister at birth. Born in DePeyster, NY on September 6, 1927 to the late Louie and Zelia Petrie Cutway, Glenden entered the U.S. Army in 1945 and served for two years. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Marion Theresa Poor and later married Frances Virginia Powers. She also pre-deceased Glenden. Glenden has a longtime companionship with Marjorie Upell, whom pre-deceased as well as Ann Sawyer. He was a self-employed contractor and also worked for Skelly Brothers in Ogdensburg for several years. Glenden was considered a jack of all trades, but truly loved to build cabinets. He enjoyed taking trips to the casino, playing bingo and was active in several bands locally, even at one time starting his own band. He loved to play the guitar and sing. Glenden was a member of the American Legion Post 925 in Norfolk. Memorial Donations in Glenden's memory can be made to a charity of one's choice.
