Obituary of Donald C. Gonyea

NORWOOD—Funeral Services for 88 year old Donald C. Gonyea, a resident of 4 Blanchard Ave, Norwood, will be held Saturday August 6th at 11 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Mother Katherine Boswell presiding. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Saturday August 6th from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Burial will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Norwood. Mr. Gonyea passed away on July 3, 2016 at his home. Donald is survived by his five children, Michael Gonyea and his companion Kelly Trombley, Potsdam; Russell Gonyea, Norwood; his three daughters, Diane and Karl White, West Chazy; Linda White, Holley, NY; Debra and Norman Deshaies, Madrid; a brother Bernard Gonyea, Texas; two sisters, Jean Kathleen Fitzpatrick, South Colton and Patricia Marselis, Norwood; his eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a daughter-in-law, Joanne Gonyea; a granddaughter, Nichole Reynolds; his brothers Lawrence, Lewis, Francis, Robert and William Gonyea and his sisters Jean Gonyea, Helen Rindal, Elizabeth Farmer and Janet Queor. Son of Clarence B. and Luella Arquit Gonyea, Donald was born at home in Potsdam on March 4, 1928, a marriage to Doris Narrow ended in divorce. He worked as a machine operator at the American Packing Corporation's Paper Mill in Rochester, NY, retiring after 25 years of service. He was proud to have served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was a member of the Norwood American Legion. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and enjoyed taking care of his lawn and gardens and spending time with his family.
