RAYMONDVILLE—A Mass of Christian Burial for 94 year old A. Eileen Derushia, a resident of 5 Woodland Drive, Raymondville, will be held Monday, July 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Raymond’s Church in Raymondville with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will be held in St. Henry’s Cemetery in DeKalb Junction following the services. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Monday from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Derushia passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in Haines City, FL.
Eileen is survived by her three sons, Jack and Shirley Derushia, Heuvelton; Robert Derushia, Polk City, FL and Michael and Kimberly Derushia, Webster, NY; her four grandchildren, Sara Bruzda, Kelly Derushia, Melissa Pennington, Danielle Patterson; her three great grandchildren, Tatiana Bruzda, Katrina Bruzda, Elizabeth Pennington; a brother Harold Lowery, DeKalb Junction and her two sisters, Ursula Coffey, North Russell and Kathleen Goria, Nyack. Eileen was pre-deceased by her brothers John, Patrick and Leo Hand and a sister Mary Eleanor Rowell.
Born in DePeyster, NY on February 15, 1922 to the late John and Katherine McHugh Hand, she married Leo C. Derushia on December 27, 1939. Leo passed away on February 27, 2000. She worked for Corning Glass in Rensselaer Falls for many years, retiring in 1987. Previously, Eileen worked at the Oval Wood Dish Company and Nekoosa-Edwards Paper Mill, both located in Potsdam. Eileen was a communicant of St. Raymond’s Church in Raymondville and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed listening to country and western music, reading and spending time with her family and friends. Memorial Donations in Eileen’s memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
