COLTON— Funeral Services for 89 year old Sarah E. "Betty" Frank, a resident of 60 Main Street, Colton, will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Colton with Rev. Jim Shurtleff presiding. Burial will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Colton, following the service. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Betty passed away Friday evening at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital after a long illness.
Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Frank was born on June 11, 1926 in Colton, NY to the late Earl and Marion O'Malley Fisher. Betty graduated from Colton School in 1943, and continued her education at CCBI, Syracuse, NY, graduating in 1945. She married Thomas Frank on June 10, 1950 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colton. Betty was a book keeper for Fisher-Rexford Construction in Colton for over 40 years.
Betty is survived by four children, Teresa and Lonnie Hilkemeier, Boulder, CO; William Frank, Colton, NY; Stephen and Cheri Frank, Buffalo, NY and Elizabeth and Andrew O'Hara, Syracuse. NY; her five grandchildren, Jenessa and Christopher Williams, Eric Frank, Emily and Katherine O'Hara and Stephanie and Andrew George and her two great-grandchildren, Avery and Jacob Williams. Betty is also survived by her sister, Mary and Paul Caster and a brother, Edward and Rose Fisher, both of Colton as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Sarah was pre-deceased by her husband Thomas in 1989, her sister Marguerite Rodwell and in-laws Richard and Mary Weegar, John Frank and Robert Frank.
Betty was a life-long communicant of St. Patrick's Church and the Altar and Rosary Society in Colton and was a involved with several organizations including the Girl Scouts and the Red Hat Society. Betty enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and knitting, in which she was known for knitting hundreds of hand-made personalized Christmas Stockings. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Colton Rescue Squad or the Colton-Hepburn Library.
