Obituary of Sarah C. Collins

CHILDWOLD—A Mass of Christian Burial for 74 year old Sarah C. Collins, 8376 St. Highway 3, Childwold, NY, will be held Friday, April 29, 2016 at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Colton with Rev. John Kennehan presiding. Burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Colton. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Collins passed away late Monday evening at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg with her family at her side. Sarah is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ralph, Childwold; a son, Thomas and Sherri Collins, Ballston Spa; her two daughters, Susan Collins-Rickett and her husband, Gary Rickett, Colton; Karen and Larry Peck, Colton; her four beloved grandchildren; Nicole Collins, Bryan Collins, David Peck and Danielle Peck. Sarah is also survived by her three great-grandchildren Alexis, Kylie and Taylor Peck, her soon to be expected great-grandson, her sister, Mary-Jane Harvey, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews. Born in Potsdam on April 19, 1942 to the late Martin and Loretta Marden Clohosey, Sarah worked for the U.S. Postal Service throughout various towns for 20 years, retiring as the Postmaster in Hermon, NY in 1998. Sarah enjoyed cooking, taking an occasional 4-wheeler ride and tending to her flower gardens, but her most enjoyment came from spending time with her family and friends, especially her four beloved grandchildren and the newest additions to the family, her great-grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Colton. Memorial Donations in her memory can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, the Cranberry Lake Fire and Rescue or to the Colton Rescue Squad.
