COLTON-- Funeral services for 78 year old Phyllis N. Bovay, a resident of Gouverneur and formerly of Colton, will be held Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton with Deacon Pat Lavine presiding. Burial will be held in the Hermon Cemetery following the services. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Bovay passed away on March 2, 2016 in Brooksville, FL.
Phyllis is survived by a son, William and Mary-Jo Sutton, Colton and two daughters, Sharon Snyder and her companion James Austin, Georgia and Cynthia Charleson, Alabama. Phyllis is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, William, Michael, Kazz, Kennin, Kakia, Kie, Jason, Matthew, Chris, J.D. and Jennifer; her 26 great-grandchildren and her companion Wayne Hall and his family. Phyllis was pre-deceased by her husband Larry, a son Sampie Dean Sutton and a grandson, Kane Snyder.
Born in Potsdam, NY on June 11, 1937 the only child of James and Therese Atterson Foley, Phyllis worked as a school bus driver for several years at the Colton-Pierrepont Central School. She married Lawrence Bovay on August 28, 1982 and he passed away on March 4, 2005. In her spare time, Phyllis enjoyed working on crafts, hunting, swimming and roller skating. Her most enjoyment came from spending time with her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care or to a local SPCA.
