MASSENA– Funeral Services for 78 year old Harold F. Derushia Jr., of 262 Prospect Street, Massena, and formerly of Norfolk will be held Friday at 10 am at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with pastor Rev. Andrew Amyot presiding. A spring burial will be held in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Louisville, with Military Honors. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk . Mr. Derushia passed away Monday evening at his home. Harold is survived by his wife Loretta, of Massena, two daughters, Mrs. James Debra Meagher, Annandale, VA.and Mrs. Patrick Robin Sullivan, Coventry, CT., two grandsons, Patrick Meagher and Kevin Sullivan, a brother Richard Derushia, Chase Mills, and three sisters Mrs. John Elizabeth Disco, Syracuse; Irene Austin, Apache Junction, Arizona and Mrs. Edward Louise Holmes, Hemlock, NY. He was pre-deceased by a sister Mrs. Shirley Eagles. Born in Massena on December 12, 1930 to the late Harold F.and Ethel Hunter Derushia Sr., he married Loretta J. Mahoney on January 8, 1955. He worked as a automotive machinist and manager for the Plattsburg Motor Service in Massena for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He owned and operated a gas station in Norfolk at one time. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Massena and a member of the Norfolk American Legion, the Korean War Association, was past president of the Gas and Steam Engine Assoc. in Madrid and enjoyed bowling, gardening, music and dancing. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950-1953. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 6805 US Highway 11, Potsdam, NY, 13676.
