COLTON Funeral services for 68 year old Nancy M. McCarthy, of 307 County Route 58, Colton, will be held Thursday at 11 am at St. Patricks Church in Colton with Rev. Raymond Moreau, pastor, presiding. A spring burial will be held in St. Patricks Cemetery, Colton. Calling Hours will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton. Mrs. McCarthy passed away Sunday afternoon at her home.
Nancy is survived by her husband R. Charles McCarthy, Colton, a son Sean and Rebecca McCarthy, Parishville, and a daughter Bridget and Paul Lavigne, Massena. She is also survived by two grandchildren Jocelyn Lavigne and Makena McCarthy.
Born in Potsdam on January 17, 1941 to the late Herbert and Winifred Peryer Doyle, she married R. Charles McCarthy on November 30, 1963. She worked as the Librarian at the Hepburn Library in Colton for 35 years, retiring in 2003. In 1992, she was the recipient of the Public Libraries Station N.Y.S. Library Association L. Marion Mosier/ASA Wynkoop Award, the highest NYS Public Library Award that can be awarded. Nancy was a member of the Parishville Amvets Ladies Aux. Post #265, the Colton Library Board, the Red Hat Society, St. Particks Alter and Rosary Society, and she served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Patricks Church. She was a former proprietor with her husband of McCarthys Hotel and Liquor store in South Colton. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. She enjoyed cooking.
