NORFOLKFuneral services for 82 year old Laura P. Lavigne, a resident of 4 Maple Street, Norfolk, will be held Monday at 10:00 am at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk. Mrs. Lavigne passed away Thursday morning at her home surrounded by her family.
Laura is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth, Norfolk; her sons, Tom and Carrie Lavigne, Massena, John and Sheryl Lavigne, Colombia, S.C.; her daughter Donna Dishaw and her companion Brad Mott, Massena; her grandchildren, Troy, Bryan, Stephanie, Amber, Heather, Sheridan, Joshua, Samuel and Daniel; a great grandchild, Garrett; a sister Ida Claffey, Massena as well as several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brothers, Dominic, Frank and Antonia Zappia Jr. and her sister, Katherine Sabad.
Born in Ogdensburg on January 23, 1933 to the late Antonio and Ida Hewitt Zappia Sr., Laura graduated from Norfolk High School in 1950. She married Kenneth L. Lavigne on November 6, 1954. Laura worked at the Norfolk High School and after the consolidation, the Norwood-Norfolk Central School, as the treasure for 24 years. Previously, Laura worked at the First National Bank in Norfolk. She was a member of the Church of the Visitation and past member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Laura true enjoyment came with spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchild and her many friends.
