NORFOLK--Funeral services for 91 year old Francis A. Bregg, a resident of Montgomery Center, Vermont and formerly of Norfolk, NY, will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will be held in the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. There will be no public calling hours. Mr. Bregg passed away early Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Barbara, in Montgomery Center, VT.
Francis is survived by his three sons, Frank and Norma Bregg, Waddington; Michael Bregg, Norfolk; Martin and Vickie Bregg, Canton; his two daughters, Barbara and Matthew Paggi, Montgomery Center, VT; Laura and Michael Stender, Saranac Lake; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers Joseph Bregg, Norwood; John Bregg, Gansevoort, NY; and a sister, Elsie Mastin, New Castle, Indiana. Francis was pre-deceased by his wife Mary, a brother Alfred as an infant and three sisters, Ethel Helmase; Sylvia Solomon and Olga Perocchi.
Born in Norfolk, NY on October 22, 1924 to the late Joseph and Margaret Ziegler Bregg, Francis married the late Mary Margaret Molnar on June 21, 1952. Mary passed away on August 30, 2000. Francis was self employed as the owner and operator of Joe's Bar and Grill in Norfolk for many years. he was a member of the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk and also a member of the Massena VFW and Waddington American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a paratrooper. In his spare time, Francis loved gardening, reading, and enjoyed learning about history. He also loved the outdoors, especially planting trees. Memorial Donations in his memory can be made to the Norfolk Fire Department or Rescue Squad or to the Church of the Visitation.
