RAYMONDVILLE-- Funeral services for 84 year old Dominic Germano, 23 Woodland Drive, Raymondville, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Raymond’s Church in Raymondville. Burial will be held in the Raymondville Cemetery in the Spring. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Sunday from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Mr. Germano passed away early Thursday morning at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Dominic is survived by his two sons, Dennis Germano, Raymondville; Michael Germano and Sharon Hicks, Norwood; two granddaughters, Christina Germano-Paller, Massena and Madison Germano, Huntington Beach, California; his brother Tony and his wife Nancy Germano, Raymondville; his sister, Katie Zych, Overland Park, Kansas and his sister-in-laws Sally and Joe Sutter, Raymondville and Joyce Germano, Massena as well as several nieces and nephews. Dominic was pre-deceased by his wife, Lola ( September 3, 2014) , his daughter, Kathy ( April, 2005) , a sister Rose Love and brothers Ross and Sam Germano. Born at home in Raymondville on May 1, 1930 to the late Antonio and Anna Trimboli Germano, Dominic graduated from Norfolk High School in 1949. He served two years in the U.S. Army. Upon his return from the service, Dominic married Lola Campbell on June 16, 1951 at St. Andrew’s Church in Norwood. Dominic operated the Blue Haven Restaurant and later owned and operated “Dom’s Restaurant” in Raymondville for several years. As well as running the restaurant, in 1966 Dominic joined the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. He began his career as a road patrolman and then was promoted to Detective Sergeant. Dominic worked criminal and arson cases until his retirement in 1992. He received certificates of recognition for excellent work by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Treasury Department. He was named officer of the year by the Sheriff’s Department in 1987 and New York State Moose Association “Man of the Year” in 1972. After Dominic’s retirement, he continued to work security at the County Court House in Canton for many years. He was a member of the Norfolk American Legion, a member of the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years and was a past member of the Potsdam Elks Club and the Norfolk Lions Club where he was twice honored as “Lion of the Year”. Dominic like baseball and played several years with the Raymondville Rovers in years past. He enjoyed watching the Norfolk Rovers over the past few years and was a huge fan of the New York Yankee’s and enjoyed a round of golf. He and his late wife, Lola, enjoyed meeting their many friends for social visits and dinner. He also enjoyed periodic visits to the County Court House to visit all of his many friends and co-workers. Memorial Donations may be made in Dominic’s name to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, St. Raymond’s Church, Raymondville or to the Norfolk Fire Department.
