NORWOODWayne H. Henderson, 89, of 7702 St. Highway 56, passed away unexpectedly February 25, 2014 at his home. Wayne was born in Norwood on February 4, 1925, son of the late William and Elizabeth Sheets Henderson. Mr. Henderson attended the Norwood High School and served with the Army from November of 1943 to January of 1946. Wayne was employed with Conrail for more than 27 years, retiring as a conductor in 1985. He was a member of the Norfolk American Legion Post #925 and the Quebec Brook Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp. Wayne was very creative, and enjoyed puttering around and fixing things. Wayne married Helen I. Gang on February 5, 1943 at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Albert J. Farrell officiating.
Surviving Wayne besides his wife of 71 years, Helen, are two daughters, Constance Bouchard, Potsdam and Paula OBrian, Mitchell, IN and two grandsons; Patrick OBrian, Muncie, IN and Terry and Jennifer OBrian of Bloomington, IN. Wayne is also survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret Mere, Massena and several nieces and nephews. Wayne was pre-deceased by his two brothers, Ernest and Lloyd Henderson and his sister, Ethel Jannette. There will be no public calling hours and graveside services will be held in the spring in the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk.
