NORFOLKFuneral services for 87 year old Leon A. Fraser, a resident of the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena and formerly of Sober Street, Norfolk, will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will be held in the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Mr. Fraser passed away early Monday morning at the St. Regis Nursing Home.
Leon is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anita, Norfolk; one daughter, Karen and John Richards, Richland, NY; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Robert.
Born in Glen Park, NY on May 29, 1926 to the late Arthur and Ethel Frasher Fraser, Leon married Anita McClure on June 10, 1950. He worked for Niagara Mohawk for 32 years, retiring in 1986 as a Line Foreman Supervisor. Leon was a member of the Church of the Visitation, the Holy Name Society, the Norfolk American Legion, the Norfolk Knights of Columbus and the Niagara Mohawk 25 year club. He was a past member of the Norfolk Loins Club and was the past president of IBEW. Leon loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, going camping and being a member of the Trout Brook Hunting Club. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and traveling to Myrtle Beach for over 20 years. Leon served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, from 1943-1946.
