NORWOODFuneral services for 77 year old Charles W. Goodspeed, 7734 State Highway 56, Norwood, will be held Wednesday December 26, 2012 at 12 noon at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will be held in the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon. Mr. Goodspeed passed away Saturday afternoon surrounded by his family at the St. Regis Nursing Home, Massena.
Charles is survived by his wife 57 years, Edna, Norwood; his three sons, Blane and Meg Goodspeed, Massena; Ricky and Karen Goodspeed, Norfolk; Craig and Dawn Goodspeed, Norfolk; five grandchildren, Jason Goodspeed, Jennifer Goolden, Eric Goodspeed, Johnathan Goodspeed, Rachel Goodspeed, his seven great-grandchildren and two brothers, Maynard Goodspeed and Larry and Alice Goodspeed, both of Massena. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Debbie, a grandson Chad Goodspeed, a granddaughter Sara Goodspeed, his brother Gerald Goodspeed II and his sister Joyce Quanitance.
Born in Massena on July 18, 1935 to the late Gerald and Eva Trimm Goodspeed, Charles married Edna Bashaw on November 19, 1955. He worked as a cast house supervisor for Reynolds Metals in Massena for 30 years, retiring in 1990. Previously, Charles worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway and for Nekoosa and Edwards Paper Co. and for General Motors. He was a member of the North Country Retreads Motorcycle Club and the Weller Mountain Club. Charles enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and they spent many fun and happy days at their camp in South Colton. Charles also enjoyed going on trips and going to the casino.
