CANTON- Private funeral services for 94 year old Emma D. Ames, of 4 Vebber Road, Canton; will be held at the convienance of the family. There will be no calling hours. Mrs. Ames died Sunday at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Surviving are her husband Donald of Canton; two sons; Lewis and Natalie LaClair of Central Square and Donald and Paulette LaClair of Kirkville, NY. She is also survived by five daughters; Mary and Ellis Flint; Assonet,Mass; Barbara Morin, Rochester; Deborah M. LaPage and companion Floyd Snyder Sr. of Brushton; Lois and James Davidson. North Bangor; and Wanda Pagano and companion Jeffrey Wakefield of Moravia,NY. She is also survived by several grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren. Two sisters also survive her; Della Crump of Morley and Mary Vice of Massena.She was pre-deceased by a daughter Laurel Wells and a son William La Clair.
Born in Massena on April 22, 1918, Daughter of William and Arilla See, she married Donald J. Ames on April 19, 1969. She was employed at the Moongate Nursing Home, Clarkson College in the food service department, and was supervisor of housekeeping at SUNY Potsdam.
She was a member of the Pierrepont Fire Dept. Auxillary. She enjoyed crafts,gardening,fishing, and reading. Donations may be made to the Pierrepont Fire Department or the Colton Rescue Squad.
