KNAPPS STATIONFuneral services for 63 year old Richard L. Brothers, 97 Porter-Lynch Road, Norwood, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Knapps Station Community Church with Rev. Lee Sweeney presiding. A luncheon will follow at the Church Hall. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mr. Brothers passed away early Wednesday morning at his home.
Dick is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cynthia, Norwood; a son, Eric and Brandi Brothers, Ballston Spa, NY; a daughter, Amy Brothers, Wilmington, NC and two grandchildren, Jackson Richard Brothers and Pierce Alexander Brothers. Dick is also survived by four brothers, Edward, Raleigh, NC; Thomas and Sallie Brothers, Norfolk; Phillip and Lynn Brothers, Madrid; Michael and Joan Brothers, Norwood and his sister, Cindy Hake, New Castle, PA. Dick was pre-deceased by his parents, his brother Francis and his sister Sylvia Andrews.
Born in Potsdam on February 19, 1949 to the late Alfred and Lillian Thomas Brothers, he married Cynthia VanKennan on November 18, 1972. Dick was the Superintendent for the Norfolk Paper Mill. He worked at the Mill for 36 years, retiring in 2007. Dick was a member of the Norfolk American Legion and enjoyed woodworking, going to Florida and loved to spend time with his family. Dick served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
