NORWOOD—Funeral services for 90 year old Robert E. “Bobcat” Haggett, 1442 River Road, Norwood, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Knapps Station Community Church with Rev. Lee Sweeney presiding. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mr. Haggett passed away early Monday morning at his home where he was born. Mr. Haggett is survived by his wife of 66 years, Olive; five sons, Leslie and Elaine, Norwood; Robert C. and Elizabeth “Judee”, Norwood; Carl and Sheila, Norwood; Brian and Lisa, Norwood and Mark, Tampa, FL; his three daughters, Ruth and Terry McDougall, Massena; Alta Haggett, Norwood and Seattle, Washington and Mary Ann and Reinhold “Ron” Tischler, Potsdam. Bob is also survived by several grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Bob was pre-deceased by his four brothers, Reuben, Charles, Rollin, Harold and his two sisters, Marion Gaines and Dorothy LaVigne. Born in Norwood on the family farm on September 19, 1921 to the late Leslie E. and Kathryn Bicknell Haggett, Bob married Olive Morgan on August 11, 1945. Bob was a self-employed farmer, but also worked construction and shoveled the switches for the railroad in the winter. He was a member of the Norwood Methodist Church, a past member of the Methodist Men, the Masonic Lodge, the bowling board, the school board and the Town of Potsdam Board. Bob was affectionately known as Bobcat by his family. He had a passion for the outdoors, especially hunting and cutting wood. Bob loved to bowl, spend time with his family and liked nothing more than to sit down and play a good game of cards. Bobcat will truly be missed by his family.
