CHASE MILLSFuneral services for 88 year old Elwin J. Brothers, 454 County Rt. 44, will be held Friday at 2 pm at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk with Rev. Andrew Amyot presiding. Burial will be held in the Hale Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Friday from 11 am until the time of the funeral. Mr. Brothers passed away Monday evening at Massena Memorial Hospital.
Elwin is survived by his son, Francis and his companion, Wendy, Chase Mills, and his five daughters, Anna and Ralph Willard, Chase Mills; Debra and Frank Paige, Potsdam; Brenda Cook, Norwood; Rita and Daniel Sharlow, Raymondville and Phylis and Kenneth Derushie, Cortland. Elwin has fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and is also survived by his brother Wayne and Dawn Brothers, Chenago Forks; his two sisters, Blanche DeLing, Chenago Forks and Shirley and Pete Coleman, North Carolina and his sister-in-laws, Gladys Blair, Norwood; Ellen LeRoy Simmons, Norwood and Hazel Felix, Norfolk. He was pre-deceased by a granddaughter, a great grandson and his brother Carl and his sisters AnnaMae, Ruth and Kathleen.
Born on July 17, 1922 in Stockholm to the late Julius and Gladys McClure Brothers, he married Mable Martin on September 25, 1954. She passed away on September 2, 2001. He worked as a carpenter for Dumont Builders in Potsdam, retiring in 1967. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening and loved tinkering on cars. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
