Obituary of Nancy J. Purves

NORWOOD— There will be no calling hours or funeral services for 67 year old Nancy J. Purves, 2 Lang Street, Norwood. Mrs. Purves passed away Saturday afternoon at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Nancy is survived by her husband, Charles “Chubby”, Norwood; three daughters, Sheila and Mark Tiernan, Chase Mills; Amy and Michael Charleston, Potsdam and Stacie Purves, Norwood. Nancy has five grandchildren, Christopher and Jason Russell, Jessica Lanning, Megan Charleston and Matt Bond Jr. and one great-grandchild, Lauren Kent. Nancy is also survived by her brothers, William and Midge Kovach, Norfolk; Howard Jr. and Sylvia Despaw, Norfolk; Terry and Brenda Despaw, Norfolk; Robert and Pat Despaw, Brasher Center and her two sisters, Sally and Richard French, Syracuse and Joan and Rodger James, Parishville. Born in Potsdam on July 15, 1943 to the late Howard and Margaret Donie Despaw Sr., she married Charles “Chubby” Purves on November 14, 1961. Nancy was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling, gardening and bird watching. Memorial Donations can be made to the Potsdam Rescue Squad, the Potsdam Humane Society or to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
