COLTON– Funeral services for 71 year old Asa R. Garlough, of 184 County Route 58, Colton, will be held Tuesday at 11 am at St. Patrick’s Church with Rev. Bryan Stitt, pastor, presiding. A spring burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mr. Garlough passed away late Friday evening. Asa is survived by his wife Gloria of Colton, three sons, Michael and Deborah Garlough, Candor, NY; David and Diane Gately, South Burlington, VT; Daniel and Shawna Gately, Porter Corners, NY and his four grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, Owen and Aiyana. He is also survived by a brother Gary and his companion Lisa Franko, Mendota, MN and a sister Mrs. Paul Barbara Watson, Colton. Born in Potsdam on October 21, 1938 to the late R. Erwin and Carra Hawley Garlough, he married Gloria M. Myers on May 25, 1968. He worked for Niagra Mohawk as a Chief Operator, retiring in 1999. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He was a member and past chief of the Colton Fire Department, a member of the St. Lawrence County Fire Chiefs Assoc., NNY Firemen’s Assoc., a charter member of the Norfolk Rescue Squad when they re-established in 1981, a member of the Norfolk American Legion and the Colton Masonic Lodge and a former member of Gulf Brook Hunting Club. He loved spending time at camp and was an avid hunter. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and grand kids. Memorial donations can be made to the Colton Fire Department or to the American Heart Assoc.
