Obituary of Euclide G. Valade

NORWOOD—Funeral services for 85 year old Euclide “Pete” G. Valade, a resident of 701 River Road, Norwood, will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Church in Norwood with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. A spring burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Norwood. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mr. Valade passed away Sunday morning at Canton Potsdam Hospital. Pete is survived by his wife of 64 years Doreen, Norwood; a son Paul and Barbara Valade, Walworth, NY; his two daughters, Barbara and Glenn Royce, Norwood and Catherine Valade and fiancé Jody Fritz, Punta Gorda, FL; five grandchildren, Peter, Kevin, Marissa, Christopher and Michael; two great-grandchildren, Steven and Kourtnie; his brothers Roger Valade, Cosa Granda, AZ; Lawrence Valade, Port Leyden; Francis and Sandra Valade, Massena; and his sister Laura and Daryll Grant, Hannawa Falls. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Lomer Valade and a sister, Marie Allen. Born in Massena on April 22, 1929 to the late Fabien and Mary Ellen Beaudette Valade, Pete married Doreen Oakes on July 8, 1950. He joined the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. Upon his return home, he worked for SUNY Canton, working in the Public Safety Department for 20 years, retiring in 1987. Pete also worked for Lloyd’s RV Center in Potsdam. He was a communicant of St. Andrews Church in Norwood and was a member of the Azure Mountain Hunting Club and a past member of the Raquette River Fire Dept. He loved his Kubota tractor as he could always find something to do with it. Memorial Donations in his memory may be made to the Norwood Fire Department.
