NORFOLK-- A prayer service for 76 year old Shirley M. Nemo will be held Wednesday February 5, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk with Pastor Gregg Stierheim of the Norfolk United Methodist Church presiding. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Shirley passed away on January 27, 2014. NORFOLKServices for 76 year old Shirley M. Nemo, 84 West Main Street, Norfolk, will be held at a later date at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk. Shirley passed away Monday afternoon at the Massena Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her daughter, Juli-Ann and Timothy Oakes, Norfolk; her four grandchildren, Tori Deshane, Amanda Wason, Cody Hewey and Ricky Oakes; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Stephen and Martha Nemo, FL; four sisters, Suzanne and Jack Jochum, Norfolk; Linda Nemo, Maryland; Sandra Molina, Arkansas; Elizabeth and Fred Lautenschlager, FL; a sister-in-law, Sheila Nemo, Auburn and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was pre-deceased by her longtime companion Ronald Keyes and a brother, George Nemo.
Born in Norfolk on October 26, 1937 to the late George and Helen Despaw Nemo, Shirley was a homemaker and also worked at the Norfolk Paper Mill and Georges Tavern. Shirley loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as sewing and doing her crafts. Memorial Donations in her memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
