Obituary of Rose Marie Filer

MASSENA—A Celebration of Life service for 77 year old Rose Marie Filer, 80 Kinnie Road, Massena, will be held at a later date. Mrs. Filer passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon at her home surrounded by her loving family and Hospice beside her. Rose is survived by her husband, Carrol “Jack”, Massena; her three daughters, Mrs. Larry Susan Kellison, Massena; Mrs. Peter Charolette Thomas, Colton; Carolyn Meacham and companion Darren Jarvis, Massena; her step-sons; Craig, John and Andy Filer, all of the Buffalo area; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Rose is also survived by her brothers Art and Evelyn Ashley, TN; Richard Ashley, Potsdam; a brother-in-law, Mike Filer, PA and several nieces and nephews. Rose was pre-deceased by her son, Floyd Dashnow, who passed away shortly after birth, her brothers Raymond, Lowell and Harold Ashley and her two sisters, Jean Vari and Eva Self. Born in Norfolk on December 21, 1936 to the late James and Frances Moody Ashley, Rose married Carrol “Jack” Filer on May 21, 1993. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards, taking care of her lawn, bingo and most of all, spending time with her family.
